The Wishbone Chair, also known as the Y-chair or CH24, is a classic piece of furniture designed by Danish designer Hans J. Wegner in 1949 and produced by Carl Hansen & Søn since 1950.

The chair's design is characterized by its distinctive Y-shaped backrest, which is formed by a single piece of steam-bent wood, and the curved armrests that seamlessly flow from the back legs. The seat is made of hand-woven paper cord, which adds to the chair's natural and organic aesthetic.

The chair was inspired by traditional Chinese furniture and Wegner's fascination with the technique of using paper cord for seats. The chair's unique design combines both form and function, making it not only a beautiful piece of furniture but also incredibly comfortable to sit in. The chair's design is simple yet elegant, making it a versatile piece that can be used in a variety of settings, from homes to offices to public spaces.

Over the years, the Wishbone Chair has become an iconic piece of furniture and a symbol of Danish design. It has been featured in numerous design exhibitions and has won several awards, including the Design Plus Award in 2005 and the Classic of the Year Award in 2011. Today, the chair is still produced by Carl Hansen & Søn and is available in a range of finishes and colors.

Each Wishbone Chair, also known as the Y-chair or CH24, by Hans J. Wegner, is made with about 120 meters of paper cord. The paper cord is hand-woven onto the frame of the chair, creating a seat that is both sturdy and comfortable.
